Electrical

  • Run tons of it.
  • Any time that you are working with aluminum wire, you must coat all connections with conductive grease such as Ideal brand Noalox. Failure to do so will result in a connection failure due to corrosion, and a hazardous condition which could result in fire or electrical shock.

Moto-shed: integrate riding gear storage

    • helmets

  • Pour concrete drive-way.
    • Figure out how to minimize elevation change from driveway to workshop and moto-shed but still deal w/ drainage.

Compressor and compressed air line

  • Mount it on spring isolation mounts/pads
  • It's possible to separate the compressor from the tank, possibly put cooling/drain between the two.
  • There are automatic drain mechanisms so you don't have to twist the drain valve every time.
  • Put compressor "outside" in an insulated "room" of it's own, possibly sunken or partially so.
  • Quincy compressors seem to be pretty good. Seth has one, ask him about it.

Things to ponder

  • Storage:
    • maybe redo loft for better access and long stock storage out access doors into driveway/carport area
    • Upper cabinets rimming shop up to ceiling w/ LED spot/task lighting underneath.
  • Lighting
    • LED
    • Have some portable task lights w/ magnifiers etc.
    • Work ambient lighting from outside.
  • Heated floor
    • Probably electric w/ concrete/self-leveler over it, possibly stain
  • Beer fridge, maybe "outside" or sunken somehow w/ tap(s) in convenient location.
  • Sink, probably outside.
  • Hidden moto-lift in center?
  • Baldor Grinder
  • Sand blaster.
  • Computer station
  • Double hinged barn doors w/ "lights".
    • Want to be able to use as a regular "door" as well, seems reasonable.
    • Double hinged will allow opening w/ tighter clearance in front.
  • Would like to extend roof out front for added covered working area
    • Elevated cross-members and widely spaced vertical supports at far corners.
    • Integrate w/ moto-shed
