Tools
- Ti Tire Irons $77
Various
- AeroStitch seem to make a wide range of nice stuff, boots, jackets, panniers...
- Motoport makes kevlar outer wear including jeans.
- Atomic Moto Heated Gear
Armor
- Leatt 3DF-Airfit Jacket $250. Got this. Very comfy and has good protection.
- Leatt Adventure $250 has a lot of coverage w/ hard armor.
- POC DH Jacket $369
- POC VPD Jacket $300
- Dainese Performance Jacket $225
- Dainese Manis Jacket $299.
Boots
Sounds like the Gaerne boots fit a wider foot, the SG10 size 9 fit me pretty well. The size 9 in the Balance Oiled seemed a hair tight and narrower in the foot-box, especially across the ball of my foot. Chances are I won't fit the Sidi boots at all w/ my EEE foot.
- Gaerne G-Midland Boot $300 at Atomic Moto.
- TCX makes a boot really similar to the Midland.
- Gaerne SG-12 Boots $499 at Atomic Moto, little more at Revzilla.
- TCX makes a nice boot similar to the SG-12 but w/ a different hinge system. Worth looking into.
- Buckle Kit for SG12 $11, includes buckle and one short plus one long strap. I've also seen strap kits of 4 straps for less than $10.
- Gaerne SG-10 Boots $348 at Atomic Moto, $399 at Revzilla.
- Gaerne Balance Oiled $315.
- Gaerne Balance Pro Tech $260.
- Sidi Crossfire 2 TA Boots $580 at Revzilla but I've seen them for $525 at Atomic Moto.
- Sidi Adventure GoreTex Boots $550 at Revzilla, not sure I need the GoreTex which is more $$ than then non GTex version.
- Sidi Agueda Boots $300 at Atomic Moto which slots them in perfectly between stiff, heavy MX boots, and softer, less protective touring boots.
- Alpinestars Toucan GTX $450 looks like a really nice adv touring boot if the fit is right.
Gloves
- AlpineStar SP3, xl.
Helmets
- Arai XD4 Black Frost Size M, $540.
- 6D Enduro Style Best helmet but it's $750.
- Thor Verge Helmet at AtomicMoto they like a lot. $300.
Jackets/Pants
- Rukka Armas Jacket $1300 (I probably fit a size 52 in Rukka based on how the 50 and 54 Airway fit).
- Rukka Armas Pants $900
- Rukka Armaxion Jacket $1000
- Rukka Armaxion Pants $800
- Rukka Airway... decided against the Airway, made really well and looks nice but the combo liner thing just doesn't seem necessary. The Airman is cheaper and probably more versatile.
- Dainese Razon Leather $500 at RevZilla, expected by June 30, 2014. ...20140209 Ordered a size 54 Razon from MotoGear.
Jacket/Pants (probably black, size Large jacket, 32-long pant): Pretty sure I'm gonna go w/ KLIM stuff, seems really well made (in the US) and they've got a wide range. I'd probably go w/ black.
Currently thinking the Klim Traverse jacket and pant (does not include armor):
- http://www.atomic-moto.com/Klim-Traverse-Jacket_p_148.html $300
- http://www.atomic-moto.com/Klim-Traverse-Pants_p_154.html $330
But there're options up and down in price from those... some w/ more and some w/ less armor and/or durability...
Step up from the Traverse is the Overland (includes armor so actually less than the Traverse if you want armor):
- http://www.atomic-moto.com/Klim-Overland-Jacket_p_834.html $390
- http://www.atomic-moto.com/Klim-Overland-Pant_p_835.html$380
or
Klim Lattitude, lighter than the Badland:
- http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-latitude-misano-jacket $580
- http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-latitude-misano-pants $500
...and then up another notch to the Klim Badlands Pro jacket/pant more for the 1190 type of riding (includes armor):
- http://www.atomic-moto.com/Klim-Badlands-Pro-Jacket_p_367.html $900
- http://www.atomic-moto.com/Klim-Badlands-Pro-Pant_p_369.html $650
and then something simpler, more for MX but still useful for other stuff:
