Contents
Battery
Damper (Steering)
- Scott's is typically the way to go... kit at RevZilla for $475 but might be worth checking straight w/ Scott's installation PDF.
Forks
Headlight
- Repurpose the original light off of the KTM 500EXC w/ a Cyclops LED upgrade ($90).
- Fabricate a new "cowling" and micro-hood from sheet-metal or aluminum.
Headset
Gonna need to overhaul the headset: BikeBandit Headset parts
Hoses
Samco has a good rep... CK HON-27 should be the part number.
QuickShifter?
- Translogic superbike-spec quickshifter was mentioned in this rather happy article.
- cbrforum.com post on installing a DynoJet quick shifter with part numbers and instructions. Sounds like you need a PowerCommander.
- Bazzaz Quick Shift and Traction Control, $775 tho not sure if it would werk w/ the Honda or not.
Specs & Reviews
- Cylinder compression should read 180 new and I'm getting around 155 but pretty consistent across all 4.
- Read something about doing compression tests with throttle-bodies wide open for best results.
- Leak Down Testing
- ShootOut, has a good list of mods.
- Full series on upgrades...looks related to the ShootOut.
- SuperStreetBike 954 Used and Reviewed ...recommend a steering damper.
- Bikez.com stats page w/ posts below from folks listing what they've mod'd.
Tires
Front: 120/70-17, Rear: 190/50-17
- Dunlop Sportmax Q3
- Buy a set before April30 and get a $40 rebate.
- Front
- Rear
- Avon 3d Ultra Sport
- Mich Pilot4
- CSS uses Dunlop, pretty sure they used Qualifier II's for the student bikes, probably Sportmax GP's for the instructor bikes. Looks like the Qualifier II's may be getting phased out.
