Vendors:
- PowerCell Performance ... small shop, nice hand made stuff...
- Rottweiler
- Hyde Racing.
- All KTM Parts: Rocky Mountain carries.
More Detail and ramblings:
DAMPER:
- Most people recommend the Scotts. I went w/ them.
- GPR steering damper $495 (KTM EXC 13-14 Fat Bar: 9001-0078) $450@SBM.
- Scotts Damper for KTM... may trim this package down depending on what happens w/ HDB stuff.
HANDGUARDS PLUS...
- damper, bar lift, blinkers, fairing, lights...? heated grips, heated vest plug, GPS/Phone charging, computer mount, GPS/Phone mount, ?
- HDB: black handguards and black ano supports.
- Highway Dirtbikes has some nice hand guards, windshield, possibly light mounts and blinkers... nice button switches as well... may want to do a fully integrated unit w/ a Scotts Damper.ADVRIDER01 at checkout to get 10% off purchase.
- Pic of HDB's setup w/ a GPR damper.
HEATED GRIPS:
- Look into KTM options.
LIGHTS:
- LED upgrade for stock $60.
- Baja Designs Squadron $300 each.
- EnduroTech lights look pretty nice and seem to fit in the stock housing w/ low/hi options but may not "throw" as well as they should.
FUELING:
- Fuel filter sock, put in tank cap area as a pre-filter.
- Golan Fuel Filter $60 for filter and clamps. Use this to replace the small stock inline filters which tend to clog and stall the bike.
TPS stuff:
You don't need a TPS tool to adjust the TPS. Here's what you do;
- Remove the seat.
- Locate the wiring harness just before the gas tank. It will have the rubber cover that is attached via a rubber loop. Open it.
- Look for the Orange wire with the yellow stripe.
- Use a small solid piece of wire and slide it down the Orange wire and make contact with the connection.
- Attached + voltmeter side to the small wire and the - voltmeter wire to the neg battery terminal.
- turn the key on, turn the bike on (do not start).
- Read the TPS setting.
- BestDualSportBikes sells a unit that plugs into the TPS sensor but it's $100.
- TPSTool.com adapter fits onto the TPS for reading with a voltmeter for around $40]
RECLUSE Clutch:
- Recluse Core EXP: $900 retail, SBM? + about 90min to install. Do at an oil change.
SKID PLATE:
- RTE Skid Plate $140 made of carbon/fiber/epoxy. It is also apparently so tight to the covers that dirt gets between the plate and moto parts and wears on the moto... bike inner-tube between those points prevents the wear.
- TM Designs skid plate at $119. Plastic but sounds solid. Try this one if the RTE I have needs replacing.
MISC:
- DirtTricks Cone Washer and rear sprockets and front sprockets $37: apparently these last long and are the way to go.
TANK:
- The Acerbis comes recommended and seems to be the only reasonably priced bigger tank.
- JustGasTanks has the Ascerbis 5.3gal in natural, $299 + shipping.
- KTM 5gallon Tank Fits: 2014 KTM 500 EXC Part# 1433310005 price: $359.99
- KTM PowerParts... not sure how much it is or what parts are needed with it.
- Acerbis Tanks
Tank: Liquid bladder
- ...probably just use Nalgene or Platypus bladders but consider lining an MSR Dromedary w/ tank sealant too.
- 6 gallon bladder at JustGasTanks $449.
- What about finding soft gas bags for expansion? Strap near standard tank and drain into tank when it'll take'm?
- LiquidContainment Fuel Bladders, look like the best bet so far... and this ADVRider thread seems the best so far for info.
- What about finding soft gas bags for expansion? Strap near standard tank and drain into tank when it'll take'm?
- NomadTanks hard tanks for the back fender in a pinch.
- ADVRider thread on soft fuel bags.
- TurtlePac has some soft bags.
- Nuther ADVRider page on soft fuel bags...
- AP Racing PRF Brake Fluid: Apparently the best for not boiling.
TIRES:
- Maxxcross Desert IT front $83 (recommended by Scott).
- Maxxcross Desert IT rear gotta figure out what size. ...probably 110/90-19.
- Scott recommends the AT21 for dirt only, the Desert IT for Dual, and the Dunlop 606 for more street.
- Metzeler 6 Days 21" and 18" only, wear quick on pavement.
- MT21 10/90 tires: recommended by Chris at SBM. $82F/$93R at BikeBandit
- Dunlop D606 tires: recommended by some at ADVRider. $88F/$90R at BikeBandit.
- Adrian suggested running Trials Tires Dunlop D803
- Chris at SBM recommends the Dunlop Desert AT81 for pure dirt riding.
WHEELS:
- Rad Racing in Utah has nice stuff and some good prices...
- Woody's Wheels... ends up around $1900 for a "best" supermoto set of wheels... and may not include a rotor or sprocket.
- Warp9 around $1K for a full setup including rotors and caliper spacer. These sound like they're a good bang/buck but might not hold up to extreme abuse.
- DNA Wheels, similar to the Warp9's.
- TUBLESS:
- Tubliss sounds like the way to go, Phreaner digs'm as does his mechanic buddy Scott. $85@Slavens
- Mousse/Bibs for going "airless", need to research pros/cons of this more. Sounds like they're heavier, do wear out, can generate heat...
Kickstand
- (if the stock ever has issues) Pro-Moto-Billet $153.
